1. Summary of the important points in the reading.
Key competencies are getting more complex and need to be taught in an explicit manner.
Education aim is for life-long learners.
Learner needs to develop metacognitive and reflective capabilities. It is critical that students are able to ask questions around their thinking.
Learner needs to demonstrate competiencies
Ownership of competencies by the learner through reflection on competencies via on-line self reflective e-portfolios and rebrics.
"Competencies are at the core of the curriculum. ..." Page 203 number 4.
the key is the enabling competencies and underpinning metacognitive capabilities.
Balance direct and facilitative learning.

We discussed how central the Key Competencies are to everything we teach.

Plan for and teach the Key Competencies
More willing to teach to the kids different competencies.
We need to make sure the learner owns the Key competencies and we teach to need.
Competencies are very diificult to assess and just how do we assess them?
